Shanghai Lingjun and South China University of Technology Join Hands to Draw a New Blueprint for Magnetic Bead Technology

On July 2, 2024, Vice President Wang Zhiming and Vice President Yu Yongtao, who are outstanding talents of South China University of Technology and have profound professional knowledge and rich experience in the field of magnetic bead technology, visited Shanghai Lingjun Biotechnology Co., Ltd. to participate in a seminar on the production process of chemiluminescent magnetic beads and their application in life science research.

This seminar marks an important intersection between academia and industry in the field of biotechnology, aiming to promote the transformation and innovation of scientific research results. South China University of Technology, as one of China’s top scientific research institutions, conducted in-depth exchanges with Shanghai Lingjun Bio. Both sides focused on the application prospects of chemiluminescent magnetic bead technology in the field of life sciences and jointly explored the infinite possibilities of industry-university-research integration.

The R&D team of Shanghai Lingjun introduced in detail its valuable experience in commercial magnetic bead product development, quality control, and market feedback. The company’s product line comprehensively covers core processes such as efficient extraction of genomic DNA from whole blood samples and precise purification of circulating free DNA (cfDNA) and circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA), ensuring high-quality biological sample preparation from source to target analytes, providing a solid foundation for downstream genetic testing and molecular diagnosis, and playing an important role in medical testing, genetic analysis, and scientific research experiments.

Professor Wang Zhiming from South China University of Technology shared his team’s latest research progress in the preparation of magnetic bead materials, surface functionalization modification and biocompatibility. He mainly shared his research results on the outstanding contributions in the preparation of organic deep blue light materials and new AIE fluorescent probes and the application potential of new materials explored in recent years in the biomedical field. These results not only show the great potential of magnetic beads in cell sorting, pathogen detection and drug delivery systems, but also provide strong technical support for the future application of magnetic beads in the biomedical field.

This seminar revolved around the latest progress, clinical applications, and future trends of chemiluminescent magnetic bead technology. The two sides had an in-depth discussion on how to combine the cutting-edge research of universities with market demand closely. They preliminarily planned a cooperation framework to accelerate the industrialization process of chemiluminescent magnetic bead technology. Mrs. Xiao Lihui, General Manager of Shanghai Lingjun Bio, said: “This exchange is not only a collision of knowledge and wisdom, but also a vivid practice of the deep integration of industry, academia and research. The cooperation between South China University of Technology and Shanghai Lingjun is expected to open up the ‘last mile’ from laboratory to market and contribute to the advancement of biomedical technology in China and even the world!”
