Optimize the blood sample processing and ensure the RNA extraction quality

I. Fast and efficient sample processing

Blood samples should be centrifuged as soon as possible after collection to avoid hemolysis caused by the rupture of red blood cells. Hemolysis not only releases hemoglobin, but also activates endogenous RNase, thereby accelerating RNA degradation. Therefore, it is recommended to complete centrifugation and aliquoting within 3-5 hours after sample collection.

II. Choose the right blood collection tube

III. Add protective agent

If the sample cannot be processed immediately, consider adding a protective agent such as RNAlater or TRIzol to the sample. These reagents can further inhibit RNase activity and protect RNA from environmental factors.
